I wouldn't use either... they are both too tame..
Send one to Russell Engineering in North Rocks, and for around $120 he'll regrind it to an RE13 grind. Works great in everything from 998 to 1400cc or more. Best fast road cam I've ever used, and I've tried heaps! :P

Can I third the RE-13 motion?

Power range is from 2700 - 7500+...putting an 1100 crank in a 998 does just that..make it a 1098....also need 1098 pistons..

It gives it more torque, out of proportion to the 10% increase in displacement. Great for a road car, they soar up hills. If you allow it to breathe they rev nice too. 8)

The 1100 and 998 blocks are identical, so if you change the 998 crank and pistons to 1100 crank and pistons, it becomes an 1100. 8)

But we call 'em 998 strokers... eh Anton..
Barney had one too.

Just remember when you do this mod, throw away the tin 998 crank pulley and fit a proper 1098/1275 harmonic balancer.. longstroke cranks need them. 8)

Crikey - I have the dampener on the 998cc and runs as smooth as a babys bum. The original pulley came apart in 2 pieces about 4 years ago so I just threw the 1275 one on as it was there.

Awaiting my RE-13 with bated breath...Sent today...Woohoo

And it starts - block and head back at the end of the week and cant wait to get it together before Wagga

Hooroo
