Hey Peoples

A few people have asked me for photos of my Brake setup. I know the piccies aren't great, and I didn't bother cleaning them before shooting, but here they are anyway!!

Bob,
Pretty much looks like Josh's Honda Civic setup, except the calipers are alloy not cast iron..
Did you get them engineered, or not?

Doc, do you know of a bloke in Sydney that does disc conversions. He has a truck wreckers and uses Camira calipers or something. I have spoken to him a couple of times and he seems pretty good.

Silly question - on a genuine Cooper S setup, are the calipers leading (as in the photo, at the front of the disc), or trailing (at the rear). I only have one dust shield for my S/H cooper S brakes and can't find a photo in any of the manuals I have. Therefore I can't identify which side shield I have, and which side I need to find.

Yeah, he's the guy who does them. My car has been worked on by him for about 10 or 12 years for various owners (even though I've only owned it for about 18 months), and funnily enough this was the first prototype he built about 10 years ago. I think it says something for the quality of the conversion that very little has gone wrong with it in that time, but having said that, there are still a few improvements that have been made as well eg he has made the drive flange a lot stronger because one of the racing guys used to shear the old ones - not anymore!!!

Like I have said in other posts, both Alan (the guy who does the conversions) and my car will be at the swap meet on sunday (oh crap that's tomorrow!!) so you can have a look, and talk to Alan.

See you all there I hope!!

KB :?:

As said by Grant, they go to front. Many people in Oz leave the shields off, they can get stones etc caught in there- they are more trouble than they are worth. Cooling is better without them on.. :P
ps. put bleed nipples at top....
