The price was only for the disc setup
And the $2200 for the 8.4's that i said before was for a new set, not a reco one
My van is still currently getting rebuilt so i havnt got them engineered yet, but depending on how many other mods
i get done will depend on how much the engineering will cost me

Gordo - what type of brake hoses to the camiras use? mini disc hoses, mini drums hoses or camira hoses?

Cheers, Cazmo

Have a look in my photobucket album attached. I have the same setup as gordo. I run the standard Mini hoses. I put a new master cylinder on. They have a slightly bigger bore which gave a softer pedal.

Car has a booster as well. Car stops great and has good pedal feel as well.

Dan

Wow that looks really good Dan. Did you put them together yourself?

Would you hapen to be able to answer my question below???

Many thanks

JIm

This is how I think it is done!

The studs stay in the drive flange as normal.
The rotor then is mounted behind the flange and i guess the back of the studs rest in the existing rotor stud holes as they are oversized.

Then you bolt together the drive flange and rotor with four bolts as in the pictures.

So the only mods you have to do is drill four new holes for the bolts and skim out the big hole in the middle of the rotor so it does not foul on the swivel hub.

And of course make a mounting bracket.

Am I on the right track???

I bought some camira discs and looked at the calipers.
From inspection the camira calipers (later model) are actually the same as the vs vl turbo caliper. The difference is in the actual pads and the caliper cradle. depending on the clearance between the cradle (steel section of the caliper) and wheels I think you could use the ventelated VS calipers instead of the camira calipers. You still fit the camira pads into the vs calipers as they have the same backing plates. Again the difference in the pads is the shape of the pad. The camira pads have a smaller ID inscribed on the pad to suit the smalled od of the hub of the disc.
I will inspect more.

will the vs or vl turbo calipers stop any better than the camiras when using the same pads?

would the vs or vl turbo have 4pot calipers?

If the VL calliper is the same then that would be sweet.. Vented will always help cool them down
manofaus let us know how you go with the inspection....

If they are identicle nothing, but if the VL callipers are vented then that will help with cooling.. Which then in turn will help with stopping...

do you need to change the master cylinder for this conversion? Change the diameter of the rear wheel cylinders?

you won't have to change your master cylinder but you should change your rear cylinders to cooper s spec so they don't lock up.

I must be missing something or there are a few different types of hubs out there. Mine (1964 drum) hubs are made from cast steel. They have the studs pressed into them through four raised landings on the back of the hub. It is not machined all over. The PCD for the camira and the mini are slightly different too.
shucks perhaps not as easy as I thought!!
