very true.about the smoke killing 300nzs a year.
but ask your self this question unleaded fuel has more harmfull chemicals in it than leaded fuel, diesels spew more gasses into the air than cows can fart in a year but they want to introduce a fart tax instead of pinging the deisel owners (im one of them), also because deisel is a more enviromentally fuel they now have found that 43% of the market owns deisels and have found that its a quick easy way to earn a quick buck from them by road users charges, also we pay higher road tax and diesel is not much cheaper than pertrol after the last 4cper litre hike it just had.
they want to sweat about the silly things like braided brake hoses next they will be tellings us that indicators blink too many times and cuase heart pulpitations to by standers.

I did ask myself that question, and I replied "Yes, and I only found out recently that LPG is naturally 99 octane, whereas 'Super' petrol is only 98 Octane thanks to the carcinogens they put in it."

And now we're tied to the Kyoto protocol, so we have to pay for China, India, Australia and the US to pollute the world. What progress.

Meanwhile, a car, clearly driven by someone on methampetamine, stopped in the middle of a group of bystanders and the driver got out and whipped everyone with the braided steel brake lines before driving off, probably to build some more leaky homes and take the Lord's name in vain.

And that's why we vote!

Don't all thank me at once 8)

These guys were set up beside me at the Victorian Hot Rod Show. The fella I spoke to seemed pretty obliging. Send them your old hoses and they make new ones to the same sizes/specs. Easy.

Minstar: you may just have to lump it and toss those ones you have. Sorry.

Brilliant! Thanks for the heads up Peddro. Any idea of cost. Also does anyone else have the sam e braided line kit on their Metro system. I thought this would be a common problem for Metro brake owners???

as always consult your engineer, he will tell you if there passable. as far as i knew braids are ilegal cuz it was somthing to do with not being able to tell where possible leaks would be comming from.

check out hot4s/fast fours advertisers, i've seen heaps of ADR approved braids in there somwhere!!!!

As far as my understanding goes (and that's quite often not too far as those that know me will attest  ), the reason most of them are illegal is that they weren't made by a certified brake line manufacturer. I have just had a braided line made for my clutch (P.S. If anyone wants one, about $80) which is legal and can be made by anyone. The guy that made it said you need some official certification for braided brake lines and very few have them. I was told a mob in Melbourne can do it, but as I'm not close to needing that sort of stuff, I didn't bother getting details. Most likely the same mob that 68delux referred us to.

This guy told me that every component has an individual serial number. If your car gets inspected (ie after a crash etc), and the numbers on the components can't be traced back to a certified brake line manufacturer, both you and the person who DID sell it to you are in deep poop.

Worth the money to have them done right from the start IMO.

The reason they are illegal is they do not pass the whip test, when you crash and the wheel is flung of the vehicle braded lines break and rubber ones stretch

This question was raised when I did my MANZ scrutineers licence a few years back.

The braded ones with numbers on them have met the strech test to a certain level plus numerous other tests

Bureaucracy gone mad

they are just full o crap.
get the right ones to start with and you will have no problems, yes they are better than rubber ones cos they dont expand and give the spongy feeling, more direct but if your brakes are not good to start with they wont improve them by much or any thing.
