On the invoice after having my engine tuned, the mechanis pointed out the following needs attention:
Needs new engine mounts
Gearbox selector mount
SU carb throttle shaft worn
Rack and Pinion tired
exhaust leak at headers

How hard are the enging mounts to replace? The rest I can handle.
Thanks.

where was it tuned, if it was at mini bits i reackon they charge way too much!!, engine mounts arent hard to replace, undo one side, jack up the engine replace that side and then re attach the engine to the frame, do the same on the other side, i did this with mine its not difficult

I didn't go to minibits. I went to a more local engine tuners that does a few classic cars.
Big place. They had it for two days, getting parts overnight for it, and it runs quite well now, idles at 600-1000, as opposed to 1600!

yeh what sean said
you should be paying about $7.00 an engine mount, they are different for both sides
(if its a matic, expect to pay $120 for the pair. one hundred and twenty)

How do you tell if your engine mounts need replacing? I can't move my engine at all, but when idling it shakes quite a bit..
How many engine mounts are there? Theres one at the back isn't there? Is this hard to replace?

Can anyone recommend a place for tuning minis in sydney? Is mini and suzuki at padstow good?
