Looking for a bit of help from the forum to work out the total number of 1275LS cars built.

Over the years I have seen anything quoted from 600 to 1200 cars and wanted to try and narrow down the total.

Because the 1978 car numbering system was shared over a few models and the M2/22 body numbering was shared between the S and LS there is no way of working out the total number produced by car or body numbers.

The 1275LS Register total of 1000 cars is an estimate using engine numbers as a guide.

I appears the first week of production they used a few 12H879UH engines.

Then they moved to the 12H902UH engine which was only used on these cars. The engine numbers started at 000101 and the highest engine number I have found is 001171.

Then is the inclusion of spare engines built which is also an unknown.

Anyway allowing for a few 12H879UH engines fitted, allowing for spare 12H902UH engines not allotted to cars and also allowing for a few higher numbers than 12H902UH 001171 the total could be around 1100 engines and 1000 cars built.

What are people’s thoughts on this as an estimate?

Does anyone have a higher number engine than 12H902UH 001171?

Awesome. That helps.
Do the Moke numbers run separate or start after the 1275LS or run amongst them?

I only have a handful of Moke engines to go off but my guess is they either started at 1001 or they tacked onto the 1275LS numbers.

These are the UHZ Moke engines I have listed but I don't really follow mokes too much

I never really looked hard at the later Moke 1275 numbers. I only have about 6 and no dates.
Moke numbers and build dates seem to be all over the place.

Morris 1100. Do you know of any 1275LS engines in the 12H902UH 001000s or 001100s?
