G'day All,

A quick question, what is the maximum wheel size I could put on my '78 Clubby without having to cut the wheel arches?

I ask because at the moment I can get a set of 13"s for about 300 bucks cheaper than I can find 12"s...

Has anyone had 13s done? how do they look?

The late model mini rovers came stock with 13"s from what I can remember, but with a clubby depends what size 13"s by? One thing I don?t like about them they get stuck in every ditch on the road makes ride bumpier. But look really hot.

Quite a few mini's run 13" rims...i think 13x7 is about the limit..i don't think performance have never done an 8" wide rim for a mini as far as i'm aware, they make them, but as for anyone having them on a mini???...

As for body mods, you may require a little bit of arch cutting but nothing major.

Just make sure the rims are designed for a mini and the correct offset and PCD..

Personal opinion, I think the 13"s look too big on a Mini. I'd get 12" wheels, which are still big enough for 8.4" discs.

13x5.5 wheels with "165" tyres can fit under UNMODIFIED wheel arches, but the ride height may need to be lifted slightly at the front (to allow for clearance when steering). I have seen these fitted to a clubby with "S" flares on it... and the guards were NOT cut.

My 13x6's with 175/50/13 tyres will not clear the unmodified guards at standard ride height, but MIGHT with raised suspension.

My 13x7's with 175/50/13's DEFINATELY wont fit unmodified guards.

I tried on some 13x7's with 225 slicks - they didnt fit under Sportspack arches - even with chopped guards!!!

But it all depends on the offset of the wheels, and the type of brakes you have too....

Performance do make a superlite 13X8,,,i have a set here :-)

not recomended for road minis tho :-)

& also, just for the sake of argument,,,superlites maybe should be called "Super Heavys"

What a hassle, I'll go with 12s :P (The 13s where by 8, and the pic mini mad posted scared me :P).

Welll, since that rules out my cheap source, where in Sydney is a good place to pic up a set of 12 mags? (and maybe even disc brake conversion gear too :P)
