I have seen people run an engine on the floor but I have always tested them in situ on a car.
I now need to run one and no car easily readily available (all have engines in).
Do I go to the bother of building a good solid stand or adapting something, or just run on floor.
What's everyones opinion?

Run it on the floor. The last one I did I had it sitting on a motorbike jack and ran it like that.

Matt/Readspeed just uses oil drums.

On the floor, or trolley if you have one. Steady as a rock.

Thanks for the ideas and pics.
I have it on a homemade trolley but it is just sitting there and wobbles a fair bit.
I might look at adapting the trolley.

I have run them on the floor no problem. Just don't rev it too hard or it'll walk about,

This project was put on the back burner as I could not find the spare pot joints I have to seal the diff outputs.
I now have the pot joints so I will be cracking on with making a test stand.

I did mine on a flat dolly but had a ratchet strap holding it as I'd hadn't done this before.
Initially I didn't have the radiator on and when it started after many attempts it still rocked and scared the you know what out of me as I thought the fan was going to hit me.
