Hi All, as mentioned ina previous post regarding the horn location, my K/MK2 S has a new front apron fitted. The vertical stay/support is angled and there is a flattened section for the oil cooler fitment, Cooper S style I suppose.
Just wondering if someone could post some photos of the oil cooler in place. I have a new cooler, and the angled brackets.. no doubt the flattened section will require a little 'massaging' but when I offer the brackets up to the lower apron, the fitment is kinda weird.

OK, cool.. so the cooler sits on top of the flattened section, the bracket underneath with the apron (red in this case) sandwiched between the two? In my book, it looks like the cooler is positioned closer to the grille

this to me, looks coorect, with a bit of massaging..

The grille is moved away from the oil cooler by using six spacers, one on each of the grille attachment screws. Without spacers the grille and cooler will make contact.

Your photos are the same as my Mk2 is set up - with the cooler set back towards the engine bay and not like the repair manual drawing that isn't correct, as it shows the cooler mounting forwards towards the grill.

As winabbey says, there were spacers used to set the grill out and away from the cooler when using the original fixing screws. However, it you use the quick-release grill buttons, they already space the grill away from the cooler due to the way they are are attached.

Thanks everyone - perfect. As I mentioned, the flat section just needs a little massaging but all good. My only difference between the photos above, and my apron is the spacing between the number plate mounts. Further apart on the new apron. (This was fitted by the previous owner). No biggie there - my number plate mounting plate is now too narrow..

The 2 top flanges of the oil cooler were cut off - but you should get away with it clearing the angle brace if you leave them on.

Were the top mounting holes (each end) cut off at the factory during assembly or that’s the way they were supplied by the supplier (obviously to clear the angle brace) ? I have two original ones which have the usual grill marks in and have bought a new one. Easy enough to modify the new one to look original.

My guess is they were supplied by the manufacturer to be fit for purpose and did not have the extra tabs.

You don't want the hassle of having to modify them when there is a chance of them being damaged and also the extra time to rework them.

I don't have a drawing for the Cooper S but the GT shows them supplied without.
