Sorry that I got your date of production wrong.

I bought the Mini K new on 29/9/69; according to the register for mini K on this website, it was manufactured June or August, 1969, with the type 2 pattern.

Every MK2 Cooper S should have the second pattern. Mini Ks in April 1969 were getting it.

Now I just need to wait until someone makes a reproduction of the type 2 pattern...

In the meantime should I go with the Newton or Minisport headliner? Fit, finish, ease of installation differences?

I understand the Type 2 pattern shown as a sample in the other thread is being made with a lighter pressing, so maybe hold-off for now if you can.
