Same radiator used across the range - no difference for an S or a K.

They look very similar, although Newcell plates had different part numbers depending on which car they were fitted to- Yes?

Yes, there are different part numbers on the Newcell plate but at a point in time I understand the same radiator was fitted to all Mini models produced at that time. The S radiator wasn't different to a non-S radiator. Happy to be corrected though.

I was in the same situation when I restored my 850. I wanted to keep the original style tanks.
I was quoted around $650 for a good quality copper re core, or around $300 using a cheaper (Chinese) copper core.
In the end I got a new Minispares/Minisport radiator and had my local Radiator shop put my old tanks on it.

That is an interesting option. Just have to consider the cost of a new radiator just for its core, then cost of swapping tanks and sides.

Also check how many fins/inch the core has, some cheap UK ones only have 8. Not enough I found.
Oz radiators from 1964? on all have 16.

The local shop has quoted $765 for a recore using a conventional 3-row core, or $565 using a 'modern' core with V-shaped fins.
Seems to me to be a bit steep. May be that I'm expecting too much but I bought a new 3-row radiator for $250 from Adrad about 4 years ago to go into another mini. Wanted to buy the same again - only problem was that Adrad never made 3-row mini radiators so the one I have was a 'mistake'.

Will try a few more suggested leads.

An update - just for anyone looking at recoring their radiator.
On a member's recommendation I eventually decided to use Phoenix Radiators in Wodonga. My old radiator had to be posted but that wasn't a big issue. Austpost was $19 each way and border closures at the time made driving risky.
Phoenix sourced a 3 row core but could only get a 13 gills/inch rather than the original 16 gills/inch. The actual tubes appear to be larger than the originals so it might compensate.

Clayton at Phoenix was good to deal with and seems to do a lot of classic cars. He replaced the original cracked filler neck with the same longer old style type and kept me up to date with progress.
I primered and painted it when I got it back, about 2 weeks later. All up it cost $550 plus freight. It isn't back in the car yet but looks a very neat and professional job. I know there are other options but I was interested to see whether repairing was an option today.
