Hey all,

Im thinking what I should do to my round nose. Its going to have a bored out 1275 (probably to a 1340) with a 40mm weber, camira disks and zeemax style bodykit .... i want to get a bit more power out of it.

So the question is ... sc12 supercharger (or similar) ... or ... a turbo setup?

A 1340 is not really a good size for forced induction.... not enough meat in the cylinder walls Well, that is the theory.... feel free to try it though.

Maybe a crossflow head would be better? Harder to find... but maybe better

A 1340 doesn't exist...
A 1275 bored to +.060" is really a 1330, people used to race these in the UK's 1340cc limit class which is where the confusion comes from.
Probably is OK to blow or turbo, but I wouldn't go bigger bore that. Stroke it if you want more...

when i was setting up to sc my 1275, it was at standard bore size and he said make sure it stays that way, the more meat between the walls the less head gasket problems

did i say 1340 ... oooopppps ... i mean 1330 ... shows how much i know about cars
so is it worth supercharging the 1330 or would i be better supercharging my 1100 or the 998 engine I have?

turbosuperchargers are not new - have been about since the 1930's mainly in aircraft and mainly to supply air to these monstrous 27 litre monsters. Yes was for power but mostly for getting as much of the thin air up there into the motor otherwise plane would stall. I believe(well until recently me thinks...) a 1945 vintage bearcat pushed the 650 mph at sea level in the turbosupercharged guise. P-47Thunderbolt used 2 superchargers fed from 2 turbines for 4700shp - pretty amazing stuff

Whats this got to do with minis...hmmm well would create a mad car for one but where would you put it...lol

1500 HP, 85 PSI boost (5.7 Bar), 1.5 litres V16. This used a compound SUPERcharger and went like stink, though not for long.

detroit silver bullit turbo over blower good for 450 hp in a truck and would rev to 2500 rpm coupled to a rr double overdrive 18speed cant remember diff ratio but was good for 120 MPH was my uncles old toy a kenworth sar drool

it's a rare one so it fetches a fair amount.. but it's all relative i suppose.

mind you, .. it's a freakin light engine to keep the car under 800kgs
