In TP759A Section r.17 it says a special wind screen rubber is required but I cannot find anywhere that sells the bigger rubber. Any help would be good.

That was back when the thicker laminated screen was the exception for a Mini. These days the thicker rubber is standard as all screens are laminated.

Ok.

I have two unused windscreen rubbers that came with the car. They are not labelled. How can I tell the front from the rear screen?

I have a new front rubber, 2.95m long. The Aus rear is much smaller.

However could be possible that it is uk rear, not sure what size that would be

And found my Aus rear, 2.4m. I know some places sourced uk rears and you had to shorten them as uk rear is larger.

The rear windows in early UK cars are the same as the ones used in all Australian production. It is the later UK produced cars that have the larger version.

It is the thickness of the laminated windscreen which calls for a wider profile (slot) within the rubber section, i.e. the section width that goes around and supports the screen. Difference in thickness between the non-laminated and laminated screen (from memory) is nominally 1.6-1.7mm - so the width of the slot in the rubber is the difference you're looking for here.

A bit more information on part numbers and types of rubber seals here - https://minisport.com.au/body-seals-and-rubber

If you get the wrong rubber you are in big trouble. Windscreens obrien usually have the correct rubber.

I had the original mini K standard safetyglass windscreen smashed in the 1970s. I opted for a laminated replacement and knew at the time there were different rubbers for the extra thickness of glass but the fitters (OBriens) just used the original rubber. Never had any issues with the "mismatch".
Winabbey's point about standardising of the rubbers was possibly right.

Next question:

My laminated wind screen is a TRIPLEX and is 7.25mm thick.

I tried fitting the screen today and had no hope.

My thoughts are that modern laminated screens are much thinner.

There are many versions of windscreen rubber seals - and windscreen thicknesses. Every part is now 'after-market' and nothing is guaranteed to be to factory standard.
I had the same issues a few years ago when trying to fit the old windscreen (which fitted the into the old seal) into a new seal. There was no way the old screen would fit with the new seal.
Bought another seal from someone else and the problem was solved.
Sad but reality.

Do any forum members have the thickness measurement of a Mini laminated windscreen? Mine is 7.25mm.

The screen that was in my mk2 is 6.0mm, laminated NM brand with Standard Australia logo.
