Hi all
Can you use an electronic distributor (pointsless, Hall effect I think) with a positive earth car.
I’m building an engine for my daughter and want to minimise maintenance and improve reliability for her.

Phil

Thanks Tim
I couldn’t find a positive earth kit for a 45D.
As it is a simple two wire system, I’d have thought you could just reverse the connections to the coil and earth.
However, perhaps the polarity of the magnets has an effect on the direction of the current.
All a bit above my pay grade unfortunately.

You can definitely not swap the wire's around, the module will be cactus. Just get a complete positive earth electronic dizzy, more often than not an original one is slogged out in the bushes and not worth putting a module in it.

Just swap the car around to negative earth Phil - unless you need to keep it bog-stock original of course.

Did they make any factory cars with positive earth and a 45D? Might be hard to find...

Timmy
The 45D is for the 1275 we’re building for my daughters 850 which is still positive earth.
Yes we could change it (if we knew how) but it just adds to the list of jobs.

Thanks Timmy
That’s pretty simple (even for me).
