Fitting the wiring onto a new 200 kmh S speedo, the high beam metal bulb holder is bigger than the plated steel tube it's supposed to fit into.

The holder fingers are 16mm minimum dia when in, and the hole is 15.1mm. so doesn't fit.
The IGN lamp and 2 lighting lamps are smaller 15mm plastic holders, so they fit OK.
Is this a common problem?
The wiring loom I have looks like an S one, as it has the wiring for the other two gauges.

If I force it in, the fingers will get destroyed. And it won't stay in.

Options I see:
1 Drill or dremel the lip in the tube out to 16mm?
2 Use a plastic oil pressure lamp holder? (is smaller)
3 Buy a new holder?

I think I had the same problem years ago on another car....
What would MacGyver do...?

Edit
I think this time I will go with option 2.

Body of bulb holder is too big to go inside the tube. See my edit above..

Ahhhh...well is there a smaller bulb/LED that could be adapted?

See option 2.

I'm interested if people have had this problem before.
My speedo loom could be a MK 1 S, it's going into a 71 Clubby.
