I had good results painting my seats with that spray-on vinyl paint, although haven't used them yet so don't know how well they'll wear. This wouldn't be an issue with a headlining (except from feet when you're um 'busy'), but make sure it's not gloss paint you use.

I have also bought 10 metres of black microsuede and an industrial sewing machine and plan to make new headlinings for my minis, when I get some time...

I reprayed my sunvisors with VHT vinyl spray paint and it worked a treat. Had to do multiple coats though :)

The VHT vinyl spray works fine. I had to redo my hoodlining due to the bad job the knucklehead that owned my mini prior to me did.

Have a couple of cans on hand though....running out mid-paint makes it look CRAP! Hence, you will have to do it again.

Hood lining?
Is that head lining, bonnet lining, boot lining or something else?
Just want to be sure.
