read a few old posts but didnt find the info i was looking for,

I need to install one on my rover mini to pass compliance, and i was wondering what other people have in their rover minis, or even the 77,78 leylands.

what i have already is the little light that sits in the top crash panel out of a 77 mini s wreck, but someone already pilfered the switch so i dont know what i'm looking for.

pics would be greatly appreciated,

thanks!

I don't have one that I can take a picture of straight away but it is just like a door light switch with a little bracket to hold it under the edge of the handbrake lever.

.... and you wire it by picking up a switched and fused active wire to one side of the globe, and the other side of the globe goes to the switch which earths it to the body when closed.

This is the switch installed as part of SPO41 (Police specification MK II S). The switch is a Linread, same as a Mini roundnose door switch and the holder and tab are fabricated.

No power to the switch.
One side is earth from the body connection and the main wire/lead goes to the lamp and the other side of the lamp then goes to power via a fuse.
Maybe your globe is blown?

Im not sure was working up untill handbrake braket broke. Ive checked power and earthed the switch im getting nothing. Should the fuse be in engine bay or in the wiring behind the gauges?

Is this switch used on any other Mini models and is there a part number.

I'm not sure if you are talking about a roundnose mini or later. For police spec. roundnose switches like winabbey has shown, the power is picked up from the voltage stabiliser/regulator unit mounted on the speedo housing at B (battery) terminal, then to the warning light and earths at the Linread switch to body.

The handbrake switch would be a good interior door light switch replacement. So if there is a part number I could research it.
