Ah, but having the right tool for the job is always a time saver. I had a custom bent spanner for my Mazda that was the only one that would fit to tighten the carb bolts (and useless for any other jobs)

Sometimes it's faster to drive to the autoshop to buy the tool than try and do the job without it...

Stubby spanners are almost mandatory for certain jobs on minis , just wished they were around 30 yrs ago .

I have been known to cut Sidchrome ring/OE spanners in half. :mrgreen:

Yeh, I have a few bent sidcrome ones in my box. Holden V8 distributor box comes to mind.
Grind them thinner, bend them, cut to length. Sometimes it just needs to be done!

No longer have a Mini but in my toolbox I still have the cut-down 9/16 spanner I made as a boy in the '70's
