Yeah, makes sense.
I guess it's also close to bigger centres like Peterborough the train hub, etc.

Hi John

If you ever come across a Cooper S 2263 I would appreciate a photocopy of it (or anything for that matter)

Regards Tom and keep up the good work

I would love it if I could find a 1970 mk2 Cooper S Drivers Handbook.

Even a scanned version of the correct year / model...

Could someone who has a 1970 scan the front cover so I can be sure I'm hunting for the right item .... please.

Original of this post was updated on 11 July, thanks to info supplied by ausdino - see post further down.

Publication TP810 is the driver's handbook that covers the MK II Mini series from April 1969 when the Mini K was released through to the last of the round-nose Mini models in July 1971. The same handbook is used for all the models in this period - Mini 1100, K, Matic, Van, Moke and Cooper S, although later model Mokes had their own handbook TP835.

There are three versions of TP810 that I'm aware of (see below). The main difference between each is the dropping of the BMC name, replaced by Leyland Australia with an Austin Morris Division, and updating of servicing charges. You can see the different logos on the covers. The publication number is on the back cover and the publication date is usually inside on the last page. TP stands for Technical Publication.

Copies of this handbook come up on Gumtree and eBay from time to time. Prices range from $30 to around $100 for a good, clean version.

TP810 - published April 1969
TP810A - published Feb 1970
TP810B - published Dec 1970

A version of the handbook to cover Export models is publication TP811 dated Feb 1970.

Thanks so much for that info and photos for reference. When did they change from the BMC to Leyland Australia? My S is a 6/70 model and would like to hunt down at least a version of the correct publication.

I'll also PM you in respect to your copy.

Cheers

Yours will be a BMC version. It should have a BMC badge on the steering wheel, assuming you have an original wheel.

Unfortunately I don't have the original steering wheel, instead it's a beautiful Moto Lita timber wheel.

Hi Doug,
What about TP810A ?? I have one from my first Mk2 S.
TP810A on back page.
It has British Leyland Service on the front.
"Passport to Service" charges (issued November , 1969)
On bottom of second back page - notes, Edgar Bragg & Sons Pty. Ltd. 2/70

I have an ex-library copy of the handbook if that's of interest to you. It is bound in a hard cover to cope with library usage and has the front page glued to the cover. Otherwise it's complete and therefore useful for general reference, but not if absolute originality is your aim. Send me a PM if you wish.

You are quite correct ausdino. I overlooked that one. Thanks for reminding me. :)

I have updated my original post.

Thanks. I'll use one next time I drop my car in to the Kellow Falkiner BMC Dealership here in Melbourne for a service. Only problem I can foresee is a language one as the Kellows building is now a Chinese restaurant.
