Hi Guys

Brand new to the forum. Appologies is this question has Ben asked before. I’m a previous Mini owner and I’m back in the market for another one. This time around I have a little girl and I wanted to know the viability of child seat restraints in the rear. Can this be done?

Thanks for your help

Yep, look at the last few pages of my 1275 Supercharged build - link in my signature.

Depends on which state you're in and the specific engineer you get it certified through. Long story short, find the engineer first and ask him what he wants and do that. That's all that matters, not how we did it.

As far as what I did, it's in the thread. Reels mounted in the centre of parcel shelf. On 50mm risers to lift it higher than an average shoulder. Secured to 3mm sandwich plate underneath. Clasps secured to wheel well with similar 3mm sandwich plate.

EDIT: okay my mind change child seat to seat belt. However, yes I fitted a child seat in mine too. Use the standard parcel shelf hook bolted through to a 3mm backing plate underneath. Then the bottom/back of the child seat is secured using the seatbelts (rather than fitting those separate clips between seat bottom and seat back). Hope that makes sense

While your engineer will be the best guide have look in the boot of a Clubman and check out the reinforcing the factory though necessary to the rear shelf/rear firewall to support the rear seat belts....

Cheers, Ian

Thanks for your replies Gents, much appreciated. Would i be right in saying that the later clubbys had them std, referring to "I got a mini" post?
