 Post subject: Best 10"tyres to fit?

Hi Guys,
I have a '78 Clubman with 10" rims. The current tyres are old and hard! :-(
What would people recommend as a good sticky replacement tyre for street and occasional track use??

You can't go past the Yokohama A008 for street driving. They're reasonably cheap and most tyre places can order them in for you

with that criteria, no-way would I recommend A008 - they're by no means "sticky" - fine for road use as long as you're not breaking the law, rubbish on a track

A032R are the semi slicks. As far as I am aware they're technically street legal??

Yoko A032R or Dunlop D93J (if still available) sounds like what you need, dont expect them to last, but they do grip and are road legal.

my local motorkhana on Sunday was on tarmac in the rain and my mate's warm 1100 on A032s was dynamite - really quick, really controllable. I had old, hard and worn D93Js on the front and reasonably new A008s on the back, my grip levels were reasonably balanced

As I said, on the road and within the law, A008s are fine, but I wouldn't call them a performance tyre in any way... I use A008s on the road because they're cheap and last a long time, I use A048s (12") for dirt and D93Js for tarmac, but will probably get some A032s for my next tarmac tyre

A032Rs are way waaaaaay more grippy than the A008s. Just don't expect many kays out of them. At all. After stepping back to A008s I find traction to be a real problem if I try to take off quickly. A032Rs just hook up straight away.

The tyres (ar32) we have bought in Australia for wets ( group N cars) are up to 2 years old we put them on rims and they may not be used for a year or two but when we do they are fine.
Once you take the skin off then that's when they start to go off, the same with any tyre,driven normally they will last a long time, driven like a fool you can ruin a set in one weekend, I know people who have had them on for over 4 years now and still going strong.
When used for circuit racing we get about 12 heat cycles out of them before they start to go off a little, which will happen with any good radial tyre.
They are with out a doubt the best road tyre for a mini.
All the tyres we have bought out of the UK have been no older than 6 months old.
