Is it misfiring sitting at idle or driving along.

replace the condenser in the distributor

And the chocolates go to whiteysi8876. The condenser was the solution.

Some well known brands of condensers now are rubbish.
It makes more sense than ever to bin it and the points, and fit an electronic module. Less spark scatter, and the timing stays set.

Why am I not surprised? We had exactly the same problem in the 2015 Pork Pie Charity Run - a new condenser broke down after 2 days of hard driving, and the replacement after only one day. The third (Repco supplied) unit went the distance, and a 'spare' Repco unit was needed for another car having the same problems.

So... as drmini says...move to electronic components, at the very least.

We ran the 2017 Pork Pie Charity Run on an electronic distributor (from a Mini Metro) and it did not miss a beat over 5000km of hard driving.

Mini now has a balanced resistor, new condenser, new rotor, new leads, new plugs and new dizzy cap. Started like a dream but ran like a turd. Solution... was running too lean at low revs. After an SU tweak now it's back to car heaven. Just can't help but smile when I drive it!
