I have an old piece with the vinyl on it that I can use to match with some new vinyl.

I can measure the piece you can see in the earlier photos, if that's any use. I reckon it would've shrunk a bit over the years but surely no-one would notice the difference, if any.

Hi Doug
Thanks for your offer.
I have been in touch with a member from this subject chat from the past and he may be able to help out with some pattens from the original Hessian parts.
If not, could I get a patten from your BMC Parts supply store. Iv'e seen so many photo,s from that store. Lol :-)
Happy to cover any costs.

Pete.

I reckon you could just make your own pattern first just starting with the basic shape. The most critical parts to cut in the right spot are the slits for the bonnet hinges and around the wiper motor. Just study photos of originals fitted to cars. I've noticed mk1 originally had a lift up flap for the I'd plate and some a cutout over the fuse box.

Thanks phillb.
If I could get an original patten I'd be much happier with the end result
Interesting for the Mk 1 re lift up flap for ID and cut out for fuse box. I did not spot that on my research.
Regards Pete.

Insulation between the boot lid and the board screwed to it was mentioned earlier but I can't remember ever seeing it in real life. Does anyone have a description or, better still, a photo?

I wouldn't mind seeing the shape and type of material if that's possible? I assume there are three pieces that fit in the cavities between the bracing sections?

It's more a general interest thing than wanting to be concourse correct on my own car. Just another question about insulation to be answered and documented here. :P

Thanks Brad, that's it. Great bit of research by you. :D

I've checked as many UK and Australian Mini parts books as I can and I can't find a reference to it. Will keep looking though.

At least it's now in a thread with all the other MK II S insulation bits so others can find it.

I have the two corner cutouts ( wasn't sure if they fitted in the boot lid) but have not seen the centre cutout for the inner boot lid.
Thanks for putting that up on Ausmini. Great information. :D
Doug will you put a full picture / details in maybe the " How to" site or similar? to keep this subject all together.

Cheers Doug.
I'm thinking the Australian GT would be a good follow on being close. :D :?
