I am in the market for an early mini.
I have searched the ID plate below and cannot find any of the numbers on there.
Can anyone help please.

As a starting point: <http://www.mini.org.au/identify-a-classic-mini>
The very first line says it's an 850 and has the body and engine types.

John Sneddon's book says it's 1961, and sometime after April.

Australian assembled (from CKD) Morris 850 was released here in March 1961. So it can't be much older, really. :)
