Hi all,

Long time reader, first time poster. I used the search function to no avail :(

I have a 65 Morris mini that I want get a full body respray on. I want to know if any of you are Canberrans and can recommend a panel beater/spray painter.

Thanks in advance!

Well,

I've booked it in for a bare metal respray. I guess I will be the guinea pig in this situation and hopefully by this time next year I'll have a sweet new paint job.

Can anyone shed some light on the best process here?
I'm thinking:
1. Take everything off/out (nearly finished this) and give the panel beater a bare shell
2. Get it to a primed stage on the outside and finished on the inside (including engine bay)
3. Subframes/running gear back on
4. Interior/loom back in
5. Finish the exterior paint work
6. Windows back in
7. Engine back in
8. Bright work back on

With a whole bunch of smaller steps in between... :D

Sounds about right. I would consider putting the engine in when you put the subframes in but everyone is different. Good luck:)

A good endless chain (chain block) lets you drop the engine into the subframe with millimetre accuracy/positioning and rate of descent, more-so than trying to manhandle the body onto a awaiting engine/subframe.

I meant more so putting the engine in without worrying about scratching freshly painted guards when you lean over them. Engine in the top or through the bottom doesn't worry me either way!
