not true my 850 has "heater hooks", no heater but the hardware was there.

starter hole and "hacked" remote hole all point to it being an 850

my car never came with a heater, and had the blanking plate over the holes where the hoses went, so most likely never had a heater until I put it in there.
I should point out that my car is a mid '63 car.

with a number in the 39,000's, no cutout for an 850 gearstick and no hydro channels I'd guess it was a '66 Deluxe. Take some paint off the radiator shroud and you might find an M2/xx number

doesn't matter what it is, you know what it isn't - it isn't a Cooper, it isn't a Cooper S and it isn't an English body

looks like a great starting point for whatever you plan to do with it
