Hi All,

Id like your opinion. My car has just been painted Tweed Grey viewtopic.php?f=3&t=94191 and I was considering a Black interior but I see another forum member Bennjamin has just posted Cobra seats for sale but in Grey, now I'm considering a Grey interior I think it would look cool! But is it too much Grey... what do you all think? check it out below

Go red/grey and gold brocade from Newton Commercial. Would look stunning.

Factory interiors were dove grey/dark grey. The pictured seats look to be pretty much in the middle...(ie darker then dove, lighter than dark..)

Cheers, Ian

I think black would be wrong for it... it'd darken the whole feel of the car.

I'm with low'n'blown, though if you were keen on those cobras, you could get the rest of the trim in red/grey from Newtons and as long as the grey matches the cobras it'd tie in. You could always get some inserts put in to the cobras too

Nice paint job. Very nice colour.
There is a fellow here in the ACT who makes a living rejuvenating, repairing and recolouring vinyl. He can make your vinyl any colour you desire. Very reasonable price too.

My first thought was 'too much grey', but then I pictured it with red carpet and maybe door cards with the rear seat trimmed to match the front in grey... and my head said yes.

Always liked Tweed Grey - I prefer the understated :)

Oh, and if you do go with the Cobras... I'd recommend getting your trimmer to strip and re-foam them before you final fit them. The original foam, apart from being a bit average padding-wise, is crap and deteriorates very quickly into crumbly mess.

I second that, I recently got both my Cobras redone as the foam totally disappeared. Apart from that in the seat cushions.

Thanks for all your opinions... much appreciated. I do like the idea of red/grey and gold brocade but is this a factory scheme as I'd like to keep it as period as possible, also wouldn't the Newton Commercial stuff be UK car specific or do they do Aussie models as well?

cheers

Newton Commercial used an Aussie Cooper S car no 2304 as a pattern. It had the second style interior fitted in which the seats were used from early 67 to early 69 and the door panels were used from early 67 to Dec70.
