Sabreatche, timewise I think I will probably crack 12 mths before the 4EFTE is in and wired up, then I have the tuning etc to worry about. So far I estimate that it has cost me a bit over $5K inc halfcut (but not brakes, had the metros on there before I started this). I will probably overtake $8K when you include FMIC and the remainder of engineering charges. Also Doc I don't plan to use the cat that comes with the 4efte as it takes up a lot of space at the front (its huge) and bolts directly to the turbo so creates instant flow restriction from the turbo. Cheers M

Minstar: How often would you work on it?

What I am thinking is I'll go trolling for the parts I'll need now, sort out the disc brakes etc, get my hands on a decent half cut, and then in november spend a good solid month or something on it, working on it a lot of the day...

Sabre, yeah I probably work on it most of the weekend. Not every wkend but many. And I do a bit during the week. Its not the actual work that takes time it working things out and planning. Taking apart the halfcut can take a little while. Maybe I am just slow? I think if you have a full month of solid work that probably accounts for say 3 of 4 months of weekends, but IMHO you probably won't have the subframe built and the engine in in a month. But also I had to do alot of other stuff not directly connected to the engine transplant such as converting the car to dry cone!! Sorry for the long answer.

But your approach is sound get all the gear together and then go for it. Can you weld? But don't get the trick bits yet as you need the engine in before you really know what will fit and what won't...
