Hi,
I am selling my 'quick rack' because I decided not to be so lazy.
Was going to simply change the seals and boots on the existing rack (AYA6001) but of course I pulled it apart and noticed that the outer pinion bearing was slightly worn and pitted, looks like water or grime has been getting in there, so have had to take the rack out complicating everything...
So have bought a new pinion bearing, locking ring as well as the boots and seals. Of course this will cost me about half the price of a new one....I hope I do not need new shims.
The felt rack bush seems fine but as I have it apart I might as well change the bush as well...
However all that I can find is the following bush made from urethane:
http://www.classicmotoring.net.au/cmos/ ... cts_id=697MKO sell something which looks similar; at least it does not seem to be nylon.
Has anybody any experience with these in terms of performance and durability?
I have a lathe so maybe I can just turn one up out of nylon!
Thanks
Jon.
