Is there any tricks to removing the ball joints off front hubs(out of car).

Alsosame question for front trumpet stuck on the old rubber cone??

A lot of F n Cs today with little progress.

Get a deep socket for the ball joints and knock back the lock washers.

Replace the front trumpets with hi-los and you'll have ride right adjustment too.

the trumpets are a bastard. probably welded together with rust. put anti seize in there when you put it all back together though.

I laid the trumpet/cone assembly on its side on the concrete floor and belted the end of the trumpet where it enters the cone.
Roll along floor a bit and hit it again, continue on till it releases.
If a gap starts to open you can try a large screwdriver to pry it off.
Squirt a bit of Penetrene or a 50/50 mix of Brake Fluid and Acetone onto the joint if you like first.

Thanks for the comments. Prefer to keep original setup with trumpets over hi-lo's.
Tried the hammer trick/penetrine. Still no luck.

Yes, belting with FBhammer & big chisel is the go to get the strut to separate from the donut
just keep being persistant at it cause they will come aprt, just keep at them

& best to fit hi-los because even if you "Think" you have the same hight/length
struts & donuts & all,,, once it settles in, you will most probably have 2x differing ride heights
after the job is done & settled
& then you`ll need to pull it all out again & "either" grind some off the strut "or" add washers to the other, & fit it all back in again, & it`s all a "guestimation" at that point :-) just to get it level again.

hi-los make that job soooooooo much easier :-)
& yes we use "Copper-Coat" on the struts, knuckle joint, threads of hi-los etc

I had a front trumpet break as well when removing it from the doughnut. But on inspection it was badly corroded, so probably a good thing it was replaced with hi-low.
I place a piece of wood on the flange of the trumpet where it goes into the doughnut and belt it there.
If you hit it half way along it could shatter.
