What about instances say, hypothetically, where you give credit card details over the phone to a 'reputable' business, only to have an extra zero added to the bill 'accidently' instead of $80 it is now $800, you're only on a relatively small wage and despite many, many phone calls to the proprietor and promises made, it could take 2 months to get your money refunded.
Plus there could be instances of other 'hiccups'. Shouldn't other forum users be made aware of these possible downfalls, from reputable businesses, so they can safeguard themselves?

Hi John,

No one is necessarily doubting what you have to say. This just isn't the right place to raise your negative concerns about businesses. Would it of made any difference to your purchase if the shop had 999 positive reviews and only 1 negative review? Most people don't make a thread to thank businesses for their on-time and diligent work, but we can be eager to make one when things don't go our way.

Creating your own free forum or blog website to only takes an hour or so to do, but unfortunately then you become responsible for all the content listed on there. The world we live in of lawyers and defamation cases means that it could come back to harm you if the business finds out.

John - there a lots of examples of people being burnt by businesses, Mini related and otherwise, but Ausmini is not the place to air grievances for the reasons already stated. You could start a FB page on the topic, create your own website, use other public forums that name and shame, just not on Ausmini.

You need a better bank... and a credit card. Debit cards are for mugs...

If you been dudded, when the account arrives, you present your reasons to the bank and decline to pay that part of the bill. The bank will investigate and you will not be liable for any penalty while they do so. In my experience the bank will invariably lean towards the customer. BTDT..... The merchant carries the risk.

Cheers, Ian

I believe that if you can't post negative dealings with companies, then you shouldn't be able to post positive dealings, as you can give forum users the wrong impressions, whichever way go.

As someone that helped start this thread, I have been reading comments and communicating via PM with someone. There is one thing that keeps coming up, we are all arguing about poor service in the end. It seems that most Mini retailers could look at their own service and make sure they are doing the right thing. If someone drives to a Mini centre or calls them they have taken the time to do so. Whether it's for a 50 cent part or decent sized order they still expect service. We've all called shops, companies etc and got the impression that your call was an inconvenience. You know they just won't help or advise you they just don't want to know. Call in to a shop etc and get someone serve you that is in a bad mood and you can tell they were in the middle of doing something and that you are inconveniencing them. Not answering the phone is very annoying, especially when you want to speak to them about an issue. All this is bad service. Problems happen.
In short then;
If someone calls into your business treat them right be pleasant like you are generally pleased they did.
If the phone rings answer like you are pleased they called. Yes people can go on a bit on the phone but we are all different.
If someone wants a tracking number for goods purchased make sure you have a log with it in and referenced to a sales order. Not hard.
If you do work on a car or a part of a car. Make sure it works before the customer collects. Don't try to pull the wool over peoples eyes, they don't like it.
Answer your phones. Leaving messages for days and no one getting back to you is bad service.
Remember this and you won't go far wrong. "Treat customers like you expect to be treated."

In case anyone is wondering I have been in counter sales, internal sales and managed various companies stores/warehouses for many years. These companies have been some of the largest in the world or largest in their field. Our internal training has been fairly comprehensive over the years.
I certainly welcome peoples opinion on all this.
