Well after long thought, I have decided that I'll bolt the head onto the existing engine. Not going to put in a RE13 cam just yet as the process is too much work (worste of which is countersinking the timing plate to fit the double row timing gear with the engine in the car).
Needless to say Kev talked me out of it just for now anyway as I would also need to grind my existing 1098 pin drive cam, then I will most likely do it again in 12 months for the 1275 spider drive cam... rather save the money and try out the GR head.
Anyway had a good look at the GR head this afternoon and boy! did i score a good head!

Unleaded valve seats, new valves, new double springs, ports well worked out... this is no ordinary head! I think either both the inlet and exhaust valves have valve stem seals, or both inlet and exhaust valves don't have them at all... Very hard to tell with double springs installed...
Anyway Kev reckons the head has been skimmed quite a fair bit which will mean high compression too. I have only now realised how much work has gone into this head and only now realise how BIG of a prize this head was!

Thanks Graham Russel!
I am totally pumped to put this head on! I wonder how much HP she will make with the new head on... it will be interesting to dyno Lillee afterwards but I don't think I will get a chance to dyno her in her current state.
Anyone want to go for a drive in a stocko 1098 with a 45 Dellorto? last chance cause this week sometime, she will be Modified 1098 with Dellorto
