supercharger....less mods, more response, better on fuel but not asmuch power. still good enough for hill climbs. depends on your driving style.
i wouldnt like boost coming on mid corner from a turbo.....and i like the response of a NA engine so for a quick fix i'd go the supercharger.

supercharger = low rev fun

turbo = high rev fun...

re economy..

i'd say the turbo would be better on fuel... as you can keep it off boost....

supercharger is always boosting.... :twisted:

Turbo has more wank factor I think.
:D
Does that help?

I think the supercharger is the way to go (thats what I'll do one day),
as the turbos are more likely to have overheating and reliability problems,
and usually you have to hack at the firewall (meaning engineers certificate needed).

I've driven both types and what you choose to do depends on how you drive your car and were you drive your car, I prefer the turbo as I do a lot of highway driving and it gets really annoying with a supercharger on the highway as they constantly whine.

A supercharger will be a lot cheaper and easier to setup and maintain than a turbo and is a lot better down low in the rev range which is suited to heavy traffic and taking off at the lights, where a turbo is more suited to a long stretch where you let the engine rev right out.

Not the SC12 :wink: Has an electronic clutch drive.... flick the switch to turn the boost on or off, or wire up a vacuum sensitive switch to engage boost at a preset amount of vacuum in the inlet manifold....

Turbo ALWAYS feels faster because it "winds up", where as a supercharger "drops off" as the revs increase

It depends on the supercharger, an Eaton/Rootes type will drop of at revs whilst a scroll type like a Sprintex will keep pumping all the way to the redline.

Turbo produce more engine bay heat than a supercharger, and a Sprintex super is much cooler than an Eaton/Rootes.

Turbo produce as much initial lose in hp through backpressure as superchargers do off the crankshaft. The difference is that a turbo has to spin up whilst a supercharger is on (unless you clutch it).

With superchargers you have a choice of drive positions, crankshaft or flywheel whilst with a turbo you got one.

With my SC12 max boost is at max revs 13psi at 8000rpm so they don't drop off.

When I had my Supercharged MR2, the boost was most effective below 4000RPM. Anything above that and it wasnt much faster than a naturally aspirated car (unless it was going up a hill) . Having said that, it still did a flat 13 second quarter mile....... 8)
