Can anyone recommend where to get a stock 1100 head converted to ULP?
Are the valves machined/replaced in the same process?
What cost should be expected?

Some of the other guys on here will tell you more about it but AFAIK hardened valve seats and new exhaust valves for one. Talk to your machining shop

Cost depends on what you want to do with your head and what other bits and pieces need replacing and / or upgrading.

The ULP conversion is mostly(read all) on the exhaust side of things so inlet valves guides etc don't have to change unless they are worn already  may as well get the rest of the head looked at while your at it IMO

Russell Engineering here in Sydney gets another machine shop to do it, I think it costs $140 just to supply & fit the inserts in. You should fit new ex valves and valve guides to make a proper job of it.

Anton (J_A_M) got his 202 head done recently...

I took it to a local engine reconditioning workshop - not a Mini specific place.

They charged $35 per exhaust seat to fit stainless seats. Stainless valves are optional and not necessary.

All up I paid $240 to have them blast and clean the head, fit the hardened seats, recut them, machine the head face, fully assemble and test the head. I supplied new valves and guides.

It looked a million bucks when it was done. I don't think I took a pic.... :(

Money well spent I say! 8)

That price is very affordable, now all I need to do is find a local head shop, although I do travel to Melbourne quite often so I might source someone down there.

Thanks for the replies guys.
