Looks like a copy of the Oselli manifold... :)

@PK:
If everything fails; adjustable top engine steady? :)

My MG manifold was a bit of a downer... Casting was very rough and missaligned, and it had only a 1,6" opening  Took me some hours with a grinder to get it right. http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/5628/hifvergl.jpg (left pic) But most other I've seen have a very good finish, though :) Still like it, my prefered manifold. And I think the MiniSport and new Spares manifolds are more or less good copys of the MG one.

Cheers,
Jan

IMO if a manifold doesn't flow well there's no point using it.
The GR manifold outflows all the others hands down, it is worth the slight body mods needed to make it fit.
As Asphalt says, an adjustable steady would add a little room, if you are NOT running a remote box.

Here's how it fits in a stock `77 Clubby body (stock steady) with an HS6 attached-

With an HIF44 things get tighter- see how the carby is sitting high, because it's touching at the float bowl. The firewall would needs a heat & good thump with an XVBFH, earlier bodies need cutting as Aaron found out.

I have not used a GR manifold but I can see that it would flow well. But a GR manifold is not water heated. Most non heated inlet manifolds I have had anything to do with are a pain, untill they warm up, causing flat spots, poor running etc. Has GRs design got around this?

This manifold is popular up here, in Sydney nobody hooks the water up anyway.
My 1412 stroker had no flatspots running on the dyno. HS6 with OA6 needle. Not in a car yet.

Port runner length is 7" :P but it measures 5-1/2" front to back.

Most water heated manifolds were designed for UK use, where winter temperatures cause problems, not really needed in Oz. In fact it can lose torque if connected as the cooler the inlet charge the better.

DPE could stand for Dave Price Engineering who did a lot of work with BL products in the late1970s including running the first works SD1 race cars in the British Saloon Car Championship around 1979-80.

Here in Melbourne during Winter I use a grill muff and a water heated manifold, if I did,nt have them I would constantly freeze the carby in the morning's or at night !!!!!

So, how do Cooper S etc get on with twin SUs on a dry manifold?
No water plumbing there... and they have heat shields to keep the carbs cool too.
Ditto for Weber DCOE... they are water free too.

Gently heating the Inlet Manifold helps reduce emissions and helps a lot with fuel economy.

Yes, it will cost some HP, but I do like them for other reasons. It also helps them run a little smoother at low RPM / Low air flow.
