The last one I know of came from Northern Mini Parts (pre the change of ownership). Not sure of cost?

That one was fitted to a van by a VMCI member using honda hinges at the top and a Starlet latch at the bottom to make a rear hatch. Looked good! 8)

Yes, exhaust gasses may be a problem. But a lot of holens and falcons had this arrangement so it should not be insurmmountible. Maybe a pipe that dumps downwards?

take a look at a 90's Pathfinder, before current shape. I had one years ago. The rear glass opens up and outward, but the door stays put. When the door opens, it swings out to the right.

well the old XC falcon wagons have a wind down window in the tail gate and the exhaust points out to the side behind the rear wheel

when it comes down to it, if the window is open you will have enough airflow anyway

my van has about 1/4 of the door seals left on one side and none on the other.. i dont get gassed out (thats what the lil vent in the top is for i guess.. haha

now any glass guy worth their two cents can cut you a window to any shape.. and as the panny van rear glass is not curved at all any glass guy will do

make youself a frame (or get a machine shop to do so if you cant, get it chromed or paint it and use the hinges and catch from a mini rear tilt out window.. i rekon even if you tint the things you should get away for less than 400 dollars

thats just my 2 cents worth

a way cooler idea is like an XC falcon wagon with a wind down window in a drop down tail gate (more expensive obviously and more engineering required for the winder, but doable.. pull the mechanism out of something like a big car coupe with no window frame (like an XP falcon).. the mechanism doesnt have to be the exact size as it doesnt reach to both sides anyway.. just need to be a bit smaller than the opening sides, slide up in rails anyway

back to your bubble idea, if you choose the first option, any place that fabs plastic could make you up some in translucent black perspex instead of the glass, expect a couple of hundred a side for just the windows though as perspex is expensive, but the process is simple. (anyone whos done plastics in highschool would be able to whip one up)

trying to get one off another car and welding in bars n crap is tacky. custom jobbys are not that much more expensive in the end and look 100% better

Go see a caravan builder.....

A friend had a flat roof van with sliding side windows that he got from a caravan builder....well, until a branch from a gum tree crushed it, that is!

caravan builder was my first thought too.

our old XA station wagon tailgate was great, it had a wind down window, and a dual hinge mechanism so you could drop it down or swing it open to the right depending on which handle you operated.

so now i'm thinking one of those crazy scissor lift doors on the back with a wind down window in it. siiic

What about the sunroofs that you can popup/out? Would they fit the side window area?
