What is involved with porting a manifold? Is it more or less just smoothing the inner surface or do you actually remove a decent amount of material to enlarge the inside of the diameter?
What i mean is, i have a dremel, and time... or is it more of an art than that?
I'm gonna need to fix my gearbox before all of this but when i get round to fitting the Weber i'm gonna need to take it somewhere to get dyno tuned... any recommendations? My mate had trouble finding people who do Webers when he wanted his car tuned.
Basically, you match port it to the carb and the head, and enlarge and smooth out the bit in the middle- which is quite restrictive for a 45 carb.
I spent over 10 hours inside mine with carbide burrs in the die grinder.
If uou buy Des Hammill's book "How to Power Tune the BMC/BL/Rover 1275 A series engine" (~$40 at
www.pitstop.net.au ) it explains it all with pics.
