you can get air-assisted shockies... maybe you could run your car on the standard suspension and then flick a switch for the increase in ride height to clear your objects...
Not sure if you can get the shockies the right length for the mini.

I actually have some goodyear airbags at work, which are the same diameter as the rubber cones. The only problem is that with the low weight of the mini, they will make the car feel like a bloody sponge.
