Its a rough old ride, good thing about the mokes is with everything flat it should be a straight forward process to get it all sorted, plus you can strengthen the areas near the subframe mounts whilst you're at it.

im not overly happy with the sand blasting job ( it didnt even remove all the silicone)

but the whole rear of the vehicle is almost imaculate.. just issues around the passenger side bins

battery box

floor pan boxes

and a few other little bits

but the front firewall and most of everything else looks all rust free,

will need 4-5 panels (both sides of the floor (where it meets the wall), battery box, LHS floor box)

Silicone is hard to remove with a sandblaster, because its rubbery and the sand just bounces off. What has to be done first is remove most of it with a knife.
It'll come off easy now.

20k ouch, shop around you can buy a lot of hours for that sort of money

Are there any panel beaters on the board who could give you a realistic idea.

Not many shops want to have a job that may take a few weeks

Dont give up

Learn to weld, it's a very handy and fun skill to have under your belt.

the dude who quoted me does a great job, but perhaps its darwin pricing..

i would have thought it would have been alot cheaper if i supply the panels

I've had a car quoted at $20k before for a repair.
It's not necessarily because that's what it'll cost, more the point they're not directly saying - which is that they just aren't interested in the job at all. However, for more than twice what it's worth you'd be silly not to do it.

Personally - I'd just fix it myself - and I cant weld for crap.
Its a moke - the hardest part is making the fill in pieces flat and square.
:D

Yep time to jump on the welder and do it yourself, there all nice and square once you've put the panels in you could get that guy to doa fill and tidy up if you wanted, but I think a 20K price tag means that they just didn't want to do it.

Do a welding course at ur local tare. only takes a few weeks and u will be able to do the repairs with confidence.
mokes in melb have been selling for up to $29.000 at Shannons.
so don't give-up.

mini regards
