Hi Peter,

I'm interested in a vtec conversion but another member on my vtec post said they were too wide to pass the regs here... Can u add any info to the debate?

the off the shelf kits are too wide normally, you will have to make your own frame like peter did.

The actual comment was that the UK kits were too wide, some of the US kits were ok, or you do like Peter did and fabricate your own.

No one said all VTEC kits were too wide.

Dicko.

The best start would be to talk to an Engineer and find out their thoughts about how you should proceed. No point starting something if you're only going to proceed in the wrong direction. Get your proof of concept agreed on first then take it from there.

Cheers,

Dicko.

the allspeed engineering uk frame gives u the correct width and has been fitted, engineered and reg here in victoria.

the firewall has to be cut a lot to get the standard b16a inlet manifold to fit and the front extended about 60 mm on a roundy. but all that said if i was doing it again i would buy it its a good price now with the aussie $ up

mini regards

peter d

ps u should check out the [ 16 valve mini club ] and go to honda forums
lots of vtec builds to look at.

Thanks Peter,

Ok, Need to extend the front on a roundy.

What about required body mods on a clubby? Or did that fit fine?

Cheers,

i was under the impression that the allspeed fit roundnose minis without firewall mods (assuming you sort out a modified inlet) ?

yes your impression is right, thats why my post said [to fit the standard b16a manfold] you will need to cut the firewall.

Zulu
some mods are needed to the inner guards in the clubman and my engine is moved forward 30mm so no need for major firewall mods.

mini regards

peter d

Just out of interest, did you consider a flip front for your clubman conversion Peter? Not sure if they do flip fronts on clubman shells (never seen one anyway) but thought i'd ask.

Yes but you also said it needed to be extended, I was under the impression that it fit without the need to extend
