Some guys in the States with A/C put the condenser under the car, inside the rear subby- with a fan to blow air down through it.

My truck (Iveco Acco) has the condensor in front of the front left wheel, behind the bumper with a fan sucking on it. It is a very neat square unit, mounted on a 45° angle. (I wouldn't mind pinching one!)
It would go very well in the middle of the rear subframe. (the mounting angle would need changing)

Updated on the post I made near the top...

I have since fitted the 4efte, and air con? Not really. It's tight as all hell, my alternator is going in the guard it's that tight. I gues syou could possibly do a similiar system with a compressor but the engine mount is in the way, blah blah blah....

Minitec in US do I believe, however you need to buy an extended front also, and there is probably more room in the engine bay without an intercooler (unless you did top mount intercooler).

Nick, I had grand ideas of A/C toyota Mini, and I still think I will do it, but once you put the motor in, you then realise, wow, it's cramped I can't even fit my hand down there let alone a compressor.

But by all means go for it!

way i see it a flip front extended by 2" isnt such a bad thing i mean 2" is nothing.. and flip front is awsome because it makes getting to the engine alot easier

Like I said go for it. I'm going to have enough trouble engineering and regoing a deseamed Mini because it's built after 1971 let along a fibreglass flip front. So it's really not for me.

What are the legality's on a Flip Front. Is it legally possible on a road registered Mini, or is it dependant on the Engineer you use?

i think you will have issues wit legalities going fibreglass, steel cant see why that would be a problem!

Pre 1971 not a problem after that it has to comply with crash tests so no way
