Hi,

I think you can fit R1 carbs to your car with BD10 or 14.
Your car is mk1 Gti so, you have mechanical and vacume adavnce in your dizzy.

You should be able to get 130Bhp from above setup.

I am building similar spec to what I said for my Mini in Uk... kind of stop ATM.

I have following.
R1 carbs with a special cylinder head(P+P).
Suzuki Sports Group A camshaft.
Mk1 Gti gearbox with 3.528 diff ratio and LSD.
Adjustable vernier cam drive
Under drive pulley.
Lightened flywheel

All in chopped and raked Mk2 Mini. with 10 inch wheels.

Thanks guys.

I chopped it by 2 inches and raked front screen by 12degrees to make 45 degree angle.
Back is raked to match front.
I will have Webasto sunroof so all my bad welding will be hidden  !
This is my build diary link.

I see so many G13B car in Oz and NZ.
I have managed to convert one of my fellow Mini nut to use G13B when I took him out in my mk1 Swift Gti.

Cheers

HI
Just wanna know if I replace my G13B Mk1 components in my Mini with
1)adjustable cam gears,
2) a larger coil kit, and
3)a larger (45mm - the maximum) throttle body from the 30mm stock ones.

Could they really improve things much/a lot and also will they have any drawbacks such as shortening the lifespan of the engine, impacting timing and the electircs, etc? And also which of these (1-3) would have a more noticeable improvement in comparison - so that you will definately do first.

I am unsure to how they can replace the cam gears given the extreme tight space in the engine bay.

For less than $2000 the most sensable mods for a NA G13B are:

Nissan SR20 throttle body
GTI MK3 distributor & ignition unit
Adaptronic ECU (you will also need a MAP sensor & Knock sensor)

Expect over 100HP at the wheels

umm might want to double check, cause from what I've heard, and having a G13B mini myself, the SR20 TB conversion doesnt really work with the MK1 inlet manifold.

The TB and the MAF are all joined with the MK1's, also the inlet manifold doesnt have as much meat (thick metal) like the later model ones. So cant really grind it much more than 49mm from memory.

If you could find a cultus manifold then the SR20 TB would be no troubles.

best bet would be to fit some bike quad TB set up. get on redline gti and search around for a guy named Tekkie. hes a general font of knowledge.

Bullshit! the SR20 TB works perfectly with a MK1 manifold

The TB mounting flanges are identical

Why complicate the issue by fitting quads

Whoah easy there fella.
I never said it wouldnt fit. I said the manifold doesnt lend itself to being bored out to the 60 mm size. if you want bang for buck change the manifold then change the TB.
