It appears Mini kingdom ignitions and all I've seen on Google do not match my Mk2 ignition. My question is, are Mk2 ignitions different to other Mini's?

What is the difference are you referring to?

There seems to be a chromed ring spacer missing on replacement ignitions.

Can you just swap the chrome ring extension over? As long as the threaded section is the same length there shouldn't be a problem.

The chrome spacer was introduced about 1969. Most Mk 1 Coopers did not have the spacer. I am not able to give any reason for the change except maybe it was easier to reach and also offered more clearance to turn the key. You may need to locate a second hand spacer. Cheers Jim.

Is there a part number for this chrome spacer and would the switch need to be longer than the standard switch.

I think I've seen them on the Mini K.

I think the switch is longer. I thought they were only on the Cooper S, I have a K with one and a K without... The one with the spacer has a somewhat more questionable history though.

Here is a period photo of a Sep 1965 Cooper S (sorry about the quality) and it looks like it has the extended ignition switch. I have looked through my photos of unrestored cars and it looks like every MK1 Cooper S had them.

I thought I sent an answer to this question a few minutes ago but it does not appear to have launched.
Basically I was saying what gtogreen has said. My '66 Mk1, '69 mini K and '70S all have that spacer. Photos from the competitions dept of early-to-mid '60s cars all have the spacer too.
