Leyland 1275 LS start with 12H902.. That hotbricks site is wrong!

This engine number equates to a Morris 1100S

Morris 1100S actually had a 1275 engine from the factory. Even though the name still has 1100 in it.

Some Morris 1100S even have the same small journal crank and rods as a Cooper S! But they still have the solid block with no cam follower covers on the back.

Yep, BNicho is right. Morris 1100S. I run one in my car.

They have a small journal crank, it's cross drilled but is EN16 steel (not EN40B like an S) and use S rods.
I run an S crank in mine. Just had to play about with thrust washer thickness, otherwise it drops straight in.:P

8) probably also has a 12G940 "big valve" head - take off the rocker cover and check for the cast in number between the rockers..... :P

Stock head on 1100S was a 12G940, with 33mm/29mm valves. Some heads had 12G938 stamped next to the thermostat (where most MK2 Ss had 12G1805 stamped).

Basic casting was the same for both, but the Cooper S had 35.6 intake valves.

Mine now has 35.6/31 valves...and BIG ports..
