Managed to gather up all the assorted mini bits, cleaned and sorted them all into containers for the various size nuts, bolts and washers and discarded everything that has seen better days. Managed to find some of the more obscure fittings that I have often looked for. No excuse now for not putting things in the right place when dismantling minis.

New Spark Plugs, and it's happy again. :D Running smooth as ever, idling higher, even works with the grille on. Given that every time I'd put the grille on it'd find a problem, I was starting to think that the grille was the problem for a while there... But no, it's not the fact the grille does push on the HT leads. :)

Took the clubby for a rego check..... :?

Finally found out why I got flagged for a check.... someone left out a digit in the body number when entering into the computer !

Failed on brake lights/tail lights wrong way round (brightness) (PO wiring).... only been tested at least 5 times with this same setup ...

and exhaust touching body......

So just drained the fuel tank and removed (with the stupid drain thingy underneath :x ) took out the tank... swapped the lights electrical connections .. (checked lights)....
put it all back together again... (and didn't freeze to death in the process :) )

And hopefully "adjusted" the exhaust hanger sufficently to get clearance to make them happy......

try for another inspection in the morning....

Umm - why didn't you just swap the connectors in the corner of the boot opening ? or were they jambed in behind the tank - I know the tank is in the way but I could still get at the connectors with trhe tank in place. :?

Best way to fix that stupid PITA drain thing is toss it, and screw a short 3/8 UNF grubscrew in there with a bit of Loctite.
If it was necessary, how come RH tanks don't have `em...

My first thought but yep - seemed to be jammed behind the tank... no slack in wires...

Looked for something suitable in the garage .....but could not find anything.... but will chase up something for "long term".
(Even contemplated using the old 998 LS tank that doesn't have this feature -
but as it's been sitting around since about 1987 ...
thought it may need a cleanup first (and even back then had had to get repaired due to rustiing! ))

Now rego'd again. ... just took over 20 minutes to convince the Rego computer to accept the correct body number
