Whooo. I like the answers. Yes. Will swap the cages. The big cage will be too big to fit in the small pot anyway. Thank you good people.

Ok. What about play in the diff output shaft... I can wiggle it. How much jiggly is too wiggly?

Output shafts can wiggle a bit without the pot joint on. But if you can rock the pot joint in the side cover the cover's bush is worn and this can give leaking seals.
To replace the bush it is pressed into the cover, then the cover chucked true in a lathe and the bush bored to fit. New bushes are around .010" undersize.
I give them .001" clearance on the pot joint. ie. make 1.251" diameter.

I cut with a hacksaw then push the 2 bits out.
I fit new ones carefully with the vice and a suitable socket.

Mini Diff Flange Bush 22G421.jpg
Thanks drmini. I decided to make one hacksw cut where 22G421 bush joins and the tapped it out with a 5/8 W socket. Now I need to purchase new bushes and work out how to ream them to fit the drive shafts.

They are press fitted to the cover then bored true in a lathe. If you ream them by hand you can get them crooked and they will bind on the drive flanges. PM sent.
