Reverse lights came in 72.

my 12/71 GT has the switch and the wire in the front harness but no wire in the rear.

Police cars have reverse light switch. My police 71 GT has the light switch.

My 8/70 police S gearbox does not have any serial number stamped in the boss on the casting, as John and others have said. It does have S gears and the reversing switch on the 'box and tail lights have the extra terminals on the orange/indicator bulb holders.
I also think that my Mini K (about 7/69 - no compliance plate needed) gearbox does not have a serial number stamped on it - need to check in daylight.

I have a little bit of info on the remote 4 syncro boxes.

22G1128 was used in Australia on the Mk2 Cooper S, Mini K/1100, Export Moke, Early Clubmans.

22G846 was used in the UK on the Cooper S, Riley Elf, Wolsely Hornet.

I have no data on Australian built cars fitted with the 22G846.

My late 1970 SPO41 Mk2 S definitely had reverse lights, as did Greg Scott Young's camino gold 71

Do these numbers match the chassis number/engine number?

Sorry but I don't have an answer on that one. The bottom doesn't as it has been fitted to a MK1 Cooper S engine.

Our How To section says - 22G846: 4-synchro, as for 22G1128 Mini K and 1098 Clubman.
