Thought I'd put a bit of sound/ heat proofing where the exhaust runs the closest to the car before the engine went back in

Then we dropped the engine in

Fabbed up some radiator supports while I was at it

And finished it all up with a quick run up to temperature. Had some fuel pump problems, but that can be sorted easily enough

Hey mini_man_90,

Nice build you have going there, what motor are you running? It reminds me of a Morris 1500 engine!

Your car is the same colour as my face now

Hey maelgwn
You're eyes served you well
It is a 1500 motor. The previous owner did a lot of work getting it all jammed in there neatly.

Very sweet, I looked at doing that to my mini deluxe that replaced the Morris 1500 back in the early 80's when my 15 year old brother bent my it into an "L" shape around a Gumtree while doing doughies in the front garden. But then I realised I didn't have the skills or money or spare time to do it, so the dream bubble popped.

When you get it complete that is one monster I would love to see.

Maelgwn

PS. Think I read somewhere a long time ago that the 1500, can be taken out to 1750 cc's

The Moke wouldn't get fuel to the float after sitting for months. A new Facet style pump solved that and apart from the clouds of blue smoke she runs perfectly :)

I am up to brakes on the project mini so I pulled out the boosters I have. I took the VH44 apart and cleaned it out. The bore is perfect and all diaphragms and seals are in excellent condition except for the tiny little one on the end of the rod.

I hope I can get a reasonably priced seal kit.

M

What paint did you use on the rocker cover?

Cheers

I took the car in for a rego check this morning and passed with no problems for another year. I've got to get to the RMS soon to get some new historic plates :D

Took the old girl to a hillclimb event where on the first run, the locknut on the clutch thrust bearing shaft came loose allowing the large nut to tighten up and prevent the clutch from working
Never had that happen before in 40 years of Mini ownership, but at least it was a simple 5 minute job to fix.
All went well after that with car performing faultlessly :D

Pulled the 0.75" clutch MC off and gave it a new set of seals.

Cleared the interior of all parts and fixings and gave it a good vacuum so i could see the bare floors.

Sorted one box of bagged and tagged parts into 3 boxes - interior, exterior and driveine.

Started restoring the front overriders (for something to do as they were on the top of the pile...).

It been too long between playing with cars --- feels good.
