I'm in the same boat . Black vinyl sprayed seats and trim , it grates me no end that my original colour blue is under that and I can't clean it off , so it looks like the only option is to recover $$$$ or respray in blue .... Again ... And then there is the issue of finding a blue vinyl mat (unobtainium).... It hurts when I find little bits of original blue vinyl stuck behind fittings..wahhhh!

Preferred colour choices are often related to the era. My previous ex NSW Police MK II S was Jet Red & Crystal White, chosen by a PO because it's original colour, Kelp Beige wasn't cool in the 1970's. If I'd kept it the plan was to go back to Kelp Beige, both for originality reasons and because Kelp Beige is kind of cool now. I disliked the blue interior in my 1969 MK II S when purchased new, much preferring black, but now blue would be my choice. Same person, different times. :)

My MK1 S has a blue interior and when I had the rear seat repaired I had some vinyl sprayed to match the original before the repair was done. I had enough vinyl left to redo the dash. And yes the spray painting works a treat.

acetone will remove vinyl paint and shouldn't hurt the vinyl but as with anything try a bit underneath first to make sure

So the acetone / plumbers primer fluid will remove vinyl paint . BUT it's slow and does "melt" the vinyl a bit .
Other problem is getting all the paint out of the pattern grooves :(
Frustratingly close but not an option for a whole interior

I don't suppose soda blasting would work in the grooves? Takes paint off rubber.

Edit: sorry! Forgot i was searching the forum.

Blue seats should be easy to come by. Flog off the black ones, an easy sell.

I had my seats redone in my 71 K last year. I was suprised that there was an exact match for the colour and grain. I can't remember the manufacturer of the top of my head but I seem to remember that it was Vyfab. Go to any reputable upholsterer and they will just know. The guy that did mine just knew as soon as i showed him the seats. I'll try and take some high quality photos over the weekend so you can see the match.

Well there are 2 people wanting blue (different patterns but none the less), so if you find a set post them up and who ever they suit can buy them.

Yes, still watching with interest. Still not at upholstery stage but have been out searching and found nothing close yet. I am definitely going back to blue and the closer to original the better.

I used a Nylex product (Cordova Calypso Blue) when the Cooper was reupholstered. It was a near perfect match to the original with a colour match and close grain. When I came to finish the next project Cooper the vinyl (this time red) was NLA. Nylex is no longer manufacturing in Australia. Try NolanUDA who were the distributors. They may have some old stock.
