Theres a rover 1275 A+ motor for sale on here. Has dry subframe while mine has wet.

Would that motor work on mine? the later models had longer ratio boxes did they not? thank

You will just need a stock MiniMatic subframe for it. Auto box is too bulky to fit in a normal one. The auto subby is wider and longer.

There should be some about, I sold one last year for $100 bare.

I reckon my subframe should work then.

Did the rovers have a longer gear ratio?

3,500 he wants for motor and box. Which is alright by me really. If I can use my wet subframe then that would be great too

It should bolt in fine.
Can't help with the gear ratios for Rover ones, but the MiniMatic 998 and Morris 1100S/1300 automatics sold here had the same overall 3.76:1 ratio.

According to this site the A+ could come with a "2.760" diff (69/25), which should be a bit nicer on the highway?

With the auto 1.15:1 drop gear that'd be about 3.17:1 overall diff ratio

Be aware some parts for the early ones are unobtainium in UK now. Not sure about the Rovers.

If looking for someone to rebuild, Mini Classic in Ermington (Sydney) does them.

Thank you. thats what I heard.

Rover parts not too hard I reckon. We had a big local shop back home overseas that stocked them. and seeing as most of the japanese rovers end up there I dont imagine it would be too hard.

I think I might go the rover 1275. have mates telling me to stay with early a series but seeing as my wife will drive it to work I dont mind the a+ if it means I can make it slightly more reliable

Naturally aspirated, single or multi point with ECU is likely to your next decision  :)
